Dyson has refreshed its wet floor cleaner with the W1 PencilWash, revealed alongside the company’s other Berlin announcements. Where the original PencilWash launched locally in early 2026, the W1 reworks the formula with lessons learned from that first generation.
The headline changes are a reengineered absorbent roller for better water pickup, a more hygienic waste-water system so you’re not carrying around a bucket of grime, and a self-cleaning dock that flushes the roller after each run. It is also noticeably slimmer than the original, which should help with getting under low furniture.
Australian availability has been confirmed for early 2027. Dyson has not announced local pricing yet — expect details closer to launch, with the original PencilWash’s positioning as the guide.
This one is only worth waiting for if you specifically want a dedicated wet-only cleaner. Most households will get more mileage from a vacuum-mop hybrid like the R2 Nurovi, which is available in Australia today.
