Quick verdict
The Dreame Aqua20 Ultra Roller is the first robot vacuum to bring steam mopping to the category: a 180°C steam boiler built into the robot, feeding a wide AquaRoll roller mop that hits sticky, dried-on messes steam-first, then hot-water mops over the top. It’s $3,299 in Australia — the same RRP as Dreame’s new X60 Ultra Extreme — with 40,000Pa Vormax suction, an 8cm extending roller mop, and a dock that washes the mop in 100°C water. Our take: it’s Dreame’s answer to the one thing roller-mop flagships couldn’t do — sanitise and dissolve the messes that cold water alone leaves behind. It’s a genuine first-mover, but it’s also launch-priced, review-unproven, and only sensible on the right floors.
Dreame Aqua20 Ultra Roller Australian price and where to buy
Here’s the price picture (checked 8 October 2026):
$3,299 — RRP, available now from Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Bing Lee and the Dreame Australia website.
There’s no discounting yet: it’s full RRP across every retailer. Dreame’s track record suggests this won’t stay at $3,299 forever — last year’s X50 Ultra launched at $2,999 and now routinely sells for $1,279–$1,479 — but with the Aqua20 only days into its AU life, patience is the only discount lever available.
Release date and availability
Dreame unveiled the Aqua20 Ultra Roller at IFA 2026 in early September, calling it the start of a “thermal era” for robot mopping. It landed in Australia alongside three siblings — the X60 Ultra Extreme (arriving mid-October), the L60 Ultra ($2,799) and the L60 Ultra AE ($2,199). It sells in black, with the robot at 350 × 350 × 97.5mm and an 11kg base station measuring 420 × 441 × 502mm — so check you have room for the dock before you commit.
What it is and key features
180°C steam mopping — the headline
This is what nothing else in the category does. The Aqua20 carries a steam boiler module that generates 180°C steam in about 8 seconds, dispersed through quad nozzles onto the floor ahead of the roller mop. Dreame claims 99.999% bacteria removal (manufacturer figure). The 270mm-wide AquaRoll has 16 precision-spray nozzles, 18N of smart downforce and 300RPM rotation, with squeegee strips that scrape residue off as it rolls.
Auto-Remopping with Steam. The robot’s dual AI cameras can spot dried-on stains and trigger a targeted two-pass steam clean over them — the robot decides where steam is worth deploying rather than blasting everywhere. You can also pick a zone in the app and send steam at a specific tough spot.
Suction and brushes
40,000Pa TurboForce Vormax suction — double the X50 Ultra’s 20,000Pa and one of the biggest numbers on any robovac sold in Australia. The HyperStream DuoBrush pairs a bristled rubber brush for hard floors with a soft TPU rubber brush for carpets, with a manufacturer zero-tangle claim. On carpet, the roller lifts 15mm and the side brush 10mm with boosted suction, and a tassel-aware mode keeps it off rug fringes.
Obstacle crossing and navigation
The ProLeap system uses retractable legs to climb double-layer steps up to 10cm and single-layer thresholds up to 5cm. Navigation is VersaLift LDS with 360° scanning, dropping the robot to 97.5mm for low furniture. The OmniSight System 4.0 combines dual AI cameras with 3D structured light to recognise 320+ object types, with proactive light-based dirt detection.
The dock and battery
The AceClean DryBoard 3.0 dock washes the roller mop in 100°C water after every clean and dries it with hot air. The box is generous: 12 mop pads, 6 holders, 3 dust bags, and a three-solution auto-dispenser (pre-installed) with pet odour, floor cleaning and wood floor care solutions. The 6,400mAh battery is rated for up to 1,200m² per session with fast charging.
The honest caveats
This is a first look, not a hands-on verdict. The Aqua20 is days into its Australian life, and there are no independent reviews yet — no lab tests, no long-term steam reliability data. Every performance figure above is Dreame’s, and nobody outside Dreame has verified how the steam system holds up after months of daily use.
Steam is for sealed hard floors only. Dreame specifies the system for sealed hard flooring — and this matters more here than on a normal robovac. If your home has oiled timber, older laminate or temperature-sensitive flooring, 180°C steam is not something to point at it casually. Check your flooring manufacturer’s recommendations before running steam mode.
It’s big and it’s launch-priced. The dock is 11kg and half a metre tall, and $3,299 is the most Dreame has ever asked for a robot vacuum in Australia. Dreame’s history says the price will soften — but buying now means paying the early-adopter tax with zero street-price history to lean on.
Aqua20 Ultra Roller vs X60 Ultra Extreme: the Dreame flagship face-off
This is the comparison Dreame is forcing on buyers, because all three now sit in its flagship tier:
vs Dreame X50 Ultra (RRP $2,999, now ~$1,279–$1,479). Last year’s flagship at a street price less than half the Aqua20’s RRP. The X50 has 20,000Pa suction, spinning mop pads (not a roller), and climbs 6cm — and TechRadar rated it 4.5/5. If your floors are mostly vacuumed and lightly mopped, the discounted X50 is the value argument the Aqua20 can’t touch. You pay the Aqua20 premium specifically for steam sanitising and the roller mop system.
vs Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme ($3,299, arriving mid-October). The sibling flagship at the exact same price, taking the opposite approach: 42,000Pa suction and dual-joint UltraExtend arms (12cm side brush, 18cm mop) for edge reach, but no steam — its dock uses 100°C hot-water self-cleaning. Aqua20 = steam and sanitising; X60 = reach and raw suction. The Aqua20 is buyable now; the X60 lands mid-October.
How it compares to other rivals
vs Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow (RRP $2,499, street ~$1,044–$1,371). The closest roller-mop rival — also a 270mm roller and 20,000Pa, but no steam. Read our Qrevo Curv 2 Flow price-crash coverage here. At street prices the Roborock is a third of the Aqua20’s price — steam has to be worth $2,000 to you.
vs Ecovacs Deebot X12S ($2,999). The roller-mop flagship with an SGS-certified anti-mite chamber and strong mopping scores in independent testing. Read our Deebot X12S verdict here. The Ecovacs is $300 cheaper with review-proven mopping; the Dreame is steam-first and unproven.
vs Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai ($1,899). Dyson’s wet-and-dry robot with AI mess detection — but CHOICE’s lab tests found it poor on carpet, and it has no steam. Read our Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai verdict here.

Worth it? Our verdict
The Aqua20 Ultra Roller is the most interesting robot vacuum launch in Australia this year — steam mopping is a genuine category first, the 40,000Pa suction and 10cm climbing are best-in-class on paper, and the dock-plus-solutions bundle is properly complete. But it’s $3,299 with no independent reviews, no price history, and a steam system limited to sealed hard floors.
Buy it if you have sealed hard floors, care about sanitising mopping (kids, pets, allergies), and want the newest tech first. Wait if you want independent test results or a street price — Dreame’s flagships historically drop hundreds within months. Buy something else if you’re mostly carpeted, have timber or laminate floors steam can’t touch, or balk at $3,299 — the discounted X50 Ultra at ~$1,279–$1,479 does 80% of the job for under half the money.
Verdict: a bold, genuinely novel flagship — steam changes what a robot mop can claim to do. At $3,299 with zero independent testing, it’s for early adopters on sealed hard floors, not bargain hunters.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the Dreame Aqua20 Ultra Roller in Australia?
The RRP is $3,299, available now from Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Bing Lee and the Dreame Australia website. It’s a fresh launch (October 2026) so there’s no discounting yet — it’s full RRP everywhere.
When was the Dreame Aqua20 Ultra Roller released in Australia?
Dreame unveiled it at IFA 2026 in early September, and it launched in Australia in the first week of October 2026 alongside the L60 Ultra and L60 Ultra AE. The sibling X60 Ultra Extreme arrives mid-October.
Aqua20 Ultra Roller vs X60 Ultra Extreme — which Dreame flagship should I buy?
Both are $3,299. The Aqua20 Ultra Roller is the steam specialist — 180°C steam mopping for sanitising and dissolving dried-on messes on hard floors. The X60 Ultra Extreme is the reach specialist — 42,000Pa suction with extending arms (12cm side brush, 18cm mop) for edges and corners, but no steam. Pick steam for hard-floor hygiene, the X60 for reach and raw power.
Is the Aqua20 Ultra Roller’s steam mopping safe for all floors?
No. Dreame specifies the steam system for sealed hard flooring. If you have oiled timber, older laminate or other temperature-sensitive floors, check your flooring manufacturer’s recommendations before using steam mode — 180°C is serious heat.
Should I buy the Aqua20 Ultra Roller or the Dreame X50 Ultra?
The X50 Ultra launched at $2,999 but now sells for ~$1,279–$1,479 — less than half the Aqua20’s price — with 20,000Pa suction and a 4.5/5 TechRadar review. It’s the value pick. The Aqua20 Ultra Roller is for buyers who specifically want steam sanitising and the newer roller-mop system, and are happy to pay the early-adopter premium.
