Quick verdict
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai is Dyson’s first robot vacuum that also mops, and it’s on sale in Australia now — $1,999 at Dyson AU, though we’ve seen it for $1,899 at The Good Guys. The AI stain-detection is genuinely clever, but CHOICE’s lab tests found it terrible on carpet and underwhelming at mopping. Our first look: a strong pick for mostly hard floors, a hard sell if your home is carpeted.
Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai Australian price and where to buy
The Dyson Spot+Scrub Ai launched in Australia with an RRP of $1,999. Right now:
At Dyson Australia it’s listed at $1,999. The Good Guys had it listed at $1,899 in early October — worth checking before you buy, as Dyson also ran a Spring Sale that dropped it to $1,599 for a limited time. Prices checked 7 October 2026.
One thing to budget for: a bottle of Dyson’s own cleaning detergent is not included in the box, and the setup instructions mention it. Dyson AU sells 500ml for around $38.
Release date and availability
The Spot+Scrub Ai went on sale in Australia on 5 February 2026, after launching in the UK in late January. It’s Dyson’s first serious attempt at a robot vacuum-mop — the company has been working on robot vacuums since the 1990s (the DC06 was revealed back in 2001), but this is the first one that handles wet and dry cleaning together. Stock is currently available at Dyson AU and major retailers including The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi.
What it is and key features
The Spot+Scrub Ai is Dyson’s first wet-and-dry robot vacuum. Instead of just vacuuming, it carries a wet cleaning roller for mopping hard floors, paired with a docking station that self-empties the dustbin, holds clean and dirty water tanks, and recharges the robot. Confirmed features:
AI stain detection. The standout trick: the robot detects stains using a camera system with green-light illumination, then inspects the floor, adapts its cleaning behaviour in real time, and re-checks its work. On a stubborn mark it can make up to 15 focused cleaning passes until the stain is gone.
Self-cleaning wet roller. The mop roller is washed with heated water at the dock and dried with warm air, so it stays hygienic between runs rather than sitting damp.
Bagless dock. Unlike most rivals, there’s no dust bag to keep buying — the dock’s bin is bagless, which keeps running costs down.
Object recognition. Dyson says the AI vision system recognises close to 200 types of household objects and obstacles, from cables and socks to pet mess, and routes around them.
Long runtime. Up to around 200 minutes of cleaning per charge depending on mode and floor type, with suction that automatically increases when moving from hard floor to carpet.
How it compares
vs Dreame X50 Ultra (RRP $2,999, now around $1,279–$1,479 on deal). The X50 was last year’s flagship and is now heavily discounted — making it cheaper than the Dyson while offering 20,000Pa suction, a retractable navigation puck for low furniture, and little legs that climb thresholds up to 6cm. If mopping performance matters most, the discounted X50 is arguably the smarter buy right now.
vs Roborock Saros 10 ($2,999). Roborock’s 2025 flagship costs a full $1,000 more than the Dyson’s RRP, with stronger suction (22,000Pa) and a mature app. The Dyson fights back with its bagless dock (no ongoing bag costs) and the stain-detection party trick. At current street prices, the Dyson is the cheaper way into a premium robot vacuum-mop.
The honest framing: the Dyson sits between discounted last-gen flagships (cheaper, proven) and current flagships (more expensive, more powerful). Its unique selling points are the bagless design and AI stain inspection — not raw cleaning power.
Worth it? Our first-look verdict
Here’s where we have to be straight with you. CHOICE put the Spot+Scrub Ai through its labs in March 2026 and the results were mixed: it vacuumed hard floors well, but did a terrible job on carpet and its mopping was underwhelming. Their tester also found the MyDyson app basic, especially for customising settings.
That doesn’t make it a bad product — it makes it a specific one. If your home is mostly timber, tile or hybrid flooring and you want a robot that vacuums and mops with minimal ongoing costs (no bags, no subscriptions), the Spot+Scrub Ai at $1,899 is fairly priced against rivals. TechRadar gave it 4 out of 5 for value, noting it’s cheaper than the Narwal Flow and Eufy Omni S1 Pro were at launch.
But if you’ve got wall-to-wall carpet, or you want the best mopping in the class, your money goes further elsewhere — a discounted Dreame X50 Ultra costs less and mops better. And whatever you do, don’t pay full RRP without checking The Good Guys first: Dyson discounts this one regularly.
First-look verdict: clever AI and honest Dyson engineering, best suited to hard-floor homes. Check the $1,899 price before paying $1,999.
