The ultra-thin iPhone line is reportedly getting a second act. References to a device codenamed “V62” — believed to be the iPhone Air 2 — have been spotted in iOS 26 beta code, alongside multiple product roadmaps pointing to a spring 2027 launch window.
The sequel is expected to run Apple’s A20 chip with noticeably better battery life than the original Air, addressing the biggest complaint about the first generation. There is also talk of a second rear camera, which would close the gap with the mainstream iPhone lineup.
The bigger story is the reported reshuffle of the whole iPhone range: Apple’s base iPhone 18 is said to be merging into the Air line in spring 2027, making the thin phone the new default entry point. As always, Apple launches iPhones in Australia at the global launch, so there is no reason to expect a staggered local release.
This is a niche wait. The iPhone Duo foldable is already out and the 18 Pro line is current — unless you are specifically chasing the thinnest phone Apple makes, there is no reason to hold your breath for this one.
