Apple’s most ambitious MacBook Pro redesign in years is taking shape in the rumour mill. According to reporting from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and supply-chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the M6 MacBook Pro will bring an OLED display with touch support — the first touchscreen Mac Apple has ever shipped.
The machine is expected to run an M6 chip built on a 2nm process, housed in a thinner and lighter chassis. The familiar notch is reportedly on the way out, replaced by a hole-punch camera, and the OLED panel should deliver the deeper blacks and richer colour Apple fans have wanted for years.
On price, reports point to a figure a few hundred dollars above current models. With the 14-inch M5 Pro starting at $3,499 in Australia, that puts the M6 Pro in the ~$3,999+ ballpark — strictly an estimate until Apple says otherwise. Apple launches Macs in Australia day-one as standard, so if it ships globally, the local timing will follow.
If you’re in the market for a MacBook Pro this Christmas, it is probably worth holding off. This is rumoured to be the biggest redesign since 2021, and buying an M5 model weeks before an OLED touchscreen machine lands would sting.
