Apple HomePad Australia: price and release date (rumour briefing)
Update 6 Oct 2026: MacRumors (March 2026) now reports the HomePad is expected in fall 2026 (Sept–Dec), not mid-October as earlier rumoured.
The short version — and the important caveat: Apple has not announced the HomePad. Everything below comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman via 9to5Mac, who reports a smart home hub launching 13 October 2026 alongside a new HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. The rumoured US price is ~US$350; there is no Australian pricing and no confirmation Apple will even mention Australia on day one. Treat this as a rumour briefing, not a product page.
Apple HomePad Australia: rumoured price
- Price: TBC — not confirmed by Apple
- Rumoured US price: ~US$350 (earlier reports; unconfirmed)
- Indicative AUD: TBC — do not convert US rumours to AUD and call it a price
- Where to buy: TBC
We are deliberately not publishing a converted AUD figure. Rumoured US pricing, currency conversion and Apple’s actual Australian pricing are three different things, and presenting a guess as a price is how misinformation starts.
Release date (rumoured)
- Rumoured launch: 13 October 2026 (Bloomberg/Gurman via 9to5Mac — unconfirmed)
- Apple confirmation: None. Apple has not announced the HomePad.
- Australian availability: TBC
One supporting detail: MacRumors reported Apple Stores received “Do Not Open Until October 8” boxes — consistent with something launching soon, but not proof of the HomePad specifically.
What is the Apple HomePad (reportedly)?
According to the reporting, the HomePad is Apple’s long-rumoured smart home hub — a small device with a roughly 6-inch display on a speaker base, in a design said to echo the iconic iMac G4. It would run a new “homeOS” with an AI-powered Siri, and reportedly includes facial and voice recognition so it knows who’s talking to it.
Think of it as Apple’s answer to the Echo Show and Nest Hub: a kitchen-bench or bedside device for controlling smart home gear, video calls, music and glanceable info — but with Apple’s privacy pitch instead of Amazon’s or Google’s.
A wall-mount version is also rumoured, alongside a new HomePod mini (new colours including pink and green, faster chip) and a new Apple TV 4K with Siri AI.
Reported features (all unconfirmed)
- ~6-inch display on a speaker base (iMac G4-style design, reportedly)
- New “homeOS” operating system
- AI-powered Siri
- Facial and voice recognition
- Wall-mount version reportedly planned
- Launching alongside: HomePod mini 2, Apple TV 4K (Siri AI)
Every item above is from unconfirmed reporting. Apple may announce something different, or nothing at all.
How it compares (if the rumours are right)
Apple is years late to the smart display. Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub have owned this category for nearly a decade. The HomePad’s reported differentiators would be Apple ecosystem integration (HomeKit, Apple Music, FaceTime, iPhone handoff) and on-device AI via Apple Intelligence rather than cloud processing.
The timing is interesting for Australia: EZVIZ just launched a subscription-free smart home ecosystem here — so October is suddenly a busy month for smart home news regardless of what Apple does.
Who should care (and who shouldn’t)
Watch this space if: you’re deep in the Apple ecosystem (iPhone, HomeKit devices, Apple Music), you’ve been waiting for Apple to make a proper smart display, or you’re choosing between smart home platforms and want to see Apple’s hand before committing.
Ignore it if: you’re happy with Alexa or Google, you don’t use HomeKit, or you make purchase decisions based on announced products rather than rumours (a wise policy).
Our verdict
There is no verdict to give on an unannounced product — and any site giving you one is guessing. What we can say: if the HomePad launches at ~US$350, it will be priced as a premium product against $150–$250 Echo and Nest devices, which means Apple will be selling ecosystem and privacy, not value.
The Australian question is the real one. Apple sometimes staggers smart home launches here, and Siri features occasionally arrive late in Australia. Until Apple confirms Australian pricing and availability, this page stays a briefing.
Verdict: wait for the announcement. We’ll update this page within hours if Apple confirms anything — with real Australian pricing, not converted rumours.
Alternatives worth considering
- Amazon Echo Show / Google Nest Hub — the established options, available in Australia now, at lower prices. No rumours required.
- EZVIZ smart home ecosystem — launched in Australia 5 October with a subscription-free pitch.
- HomePod mini (current) — if a new mini launches, expect the current model to drop in price. Patience could save you money.
Apple HomePad FAQs
Has Apple announced the HomePad?
No. As of 6 October 2026, Apple has not announced or confirmed the HomePad. Everything on this page is from unconfirmed reporting.
When is the HomePad rumoured to launch?
13 October 2026, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman via 9to5Mac — though MacRumors (March 2026) now points to a broader fall 2026 (Sept–Dec) window. This is a rumour, not an Apple announcement.
How much will the HomePad cost in Australia?
TBC. Earlier reports suggested ~US$350, but that’s unconfirmed and there’s no Australian pricing. We won’t publish a converted guess.
Will the HomePad work with my existing smart home devices?
Unknown. It’s expected to centre on Apple HomeKit, but compatibility details don’t exist yet because the product doesn’t officially exist yet.
Should I wait for the HomePad before buying a smart display?
Only if you’re committed to the Apple ecosystem and in no hurry. If you need something now, the Echo Show and Nest Hub are proven products at lower prices.
