Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact vs Philips 3000i: $549 vs $549

The Dyson HushJet Purifier Compact (HJ10, $549 RRP) and the Philips 3000i Series ($549 on sale / $699 RRP) are both premium air purifiers available in Australia — at the same street price. That makes this a features fight, not a price fight.

Key differences

Price: $549 vs $549 — dead even at current street pricing (Philips lists a $699 RRP but routinely sells for $549).
Filtration: Philips captures finer particles (0.003 microns, true HEPA). Dyson’s HJ10 uses an electrostatic filter rated at 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles, plus an activated carbon filter for odours and gases such as NO2.
Power: Philips 520 m³/h CADR, covers up to 135m² — stronger raw purification for large rooms. Dyson covers up to 100m² with HushJet air projection and PM2.5 sensing.
Noise: Both whisper-quiet — 15dB (Philips) vs 24dB (Dyson, Sleep mode per Dyson’s claims).
Design: The HushJet is a compact unit built around quiet-first acoustic engineering, with MyDyson app connectivity. It’s a purifier, not a cooling fan — don’t confuse it with Dyson’s Purifier Cool range.

Which should you buy?

Too early to tell — we haven’t tested either. On paper: Philips is the stronger pure purifier, with higher CADR and a finer HEPA filter at the same $549 price. The Dyson’s pitch is acoustic — 24dB Sleep mode in a compact form factor. If quiet-first design matters more than raw filtration specs, the HushJet earns its place on the shortlist.
